[DGCD017] Album presents a unique painting & music project by Lithuanian avantgarde scene veteran Artūras Šlipavičius (founder of I.V.T.K.Y.G.Y.G.) and famous jazz virtuoso Vytautas Labutis. This surreal musical journey takes one to a mysterious, yet adventurous and perty world of Lethe - an esoteric city on the edge between worlds. Inspired by Tibetan Book of the Dead and Plato, professional though really weird, performed with dozen of classic and exotic instruments and chorus, this album stays outside of any generalisation. CD comes in a deluxe 8 panel digipack illustrated by the painting series of Lethe.

Lethe is a city and a state like Vatican with its subordinate laws and spiritual hierarchy.
In establishing the city of Lethe close reference has been made to the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the dialogues Fidon and Criton by Plato and the image of the river Lethe itself. It is the river that embodies a tiny and Fragile gap between here and there, the present and the past.
An eternal urge to comprehend space, time and infinity has been haunting us for centuries. Sometimes these concepts hover as if actual entities right beside us and vanish in a flash like reflections of mirage... Yet, I cannot help living otherwise. These ideas only strengthen my thirst for cognition and reveal the clearer colors of reminiscences when my mother tried to explain to me the essence of God and His scope of existence.
Thus, I have put much effort in creating an esoteric city of Lethe with its peculiar orders and laws through vision and sound. The city might be unreal within this time and space, but it is my only shelter in terms of existence.
The past, the present and the future merge into the central painting - The Time of Lethe. It is the Altar of Time.
This diptic represents the underlying axle of the project bearing in mind the music recorded together with Vytautas Labutis, a famous jazz -saxophone player. I have mostly referred to the image of the city of Lethe rather than the paintings while composing the sounds. Therefore, I do think it is possible to exhibit the paintings and perform the music separately.
